How do you feel about being at Home?
We have all experienced that sinking feeling of returning home after a stress free holiday.
We had left our home looking forward to some R&R away from the familiar sights and sounds of our everyday life, however the majority of us will inevitably return with what is customarily known as ‘Post Holiday Blues’. Not only is this due to having to return to work, which is understandably disheartening, but it’s that your home has suddenly developed a cold empty echo.
As a child this always intrigued me. I wondered why the absence of our energy had created a cold echo.
I have come to understand over the years what that echo is. It is not the ‘things’ in our home that give it its energy or vibe, it is in fact the energy of the people who live in it and even enter it. Some people even go as far as to warn that we should be careful of who enters our home, which I believe there is some credence to, because we all hold our own energy, even being around someone negative can create negativity in us.
Our home is our sanctuary, our peaceful haven and just like everything in life the key is balance. I’m quite sure none of us would want to intentionally disturb our peace… would we?
For us to remain peaceful in our homes, the energy has to be balanced, there must be noise, but not too much noise. There must be sunlight, but not too much sunlight. There must be shade, but not too much shade, or this could create darkness. It is not the furniture that we fill our homes with that holds energy, although in some respects it is, but ultimately it is our energy that brings that illusive peace and tranquility we were searching for on our holiday. Which is why the saying ‘Home is Where the Heart Is’ is so profound, because as long as you’re surrounded by people who love each other there will always be peace, harmony and balance.
This begs the question then as to why if it’s the people that create the peace and tranquility why do we feel the need to leave our home to rest? maybe it’s because we don’t appreciate our homes.
There are millions of people homeless around the world, lost in loneliness and despair and sometimes it’s easy to forget this fact. We need to be aware that as we have said before the catalyst for abundance is gratitude, and at this point we need to control our thoughts and remember to always be grateful that we have a roof over our heads. we need to fall in love with our homes again, and avoid falling into the trap of believing our homes are not big enough, fancy enough, not as ‘grand’ as our neighbors. It is the concept of Keeping Up with The Jones that will lead to our downfall.
Everyday we must count our blessings remembering how short life can actually be, and try to imagine that even if one member of our family were to not be around again, how empty our homes would feel. It is the collective family energy, the laughter, the music, the way we talk to each other on a daily basis, the love and kindness we show each other that will make us love being at home.
I believe that if we live by these rules which in fact returns us again to the Law of the Universe, that the energy we put out will come back to us, like a boomerang!
They say children are our greatest teachers, which is true but our pets can be too. Not a day goes by without our pets, greeting us at the door with the love they have for us. They are our blessings and an example of divine love and appreciation. In my opinion a house is not a home without pets.
How do you feel about your home? maybe it’s time to ask ourselves important question and make some necessary changes.
